How do I order?

How much does delivery cost?

$9.99 mainland delivery, and it's included in the price for purchases over $100

When will my wine be delivered?

Deliveries are on Monday - Friday during regular working hours.

Most deliveries will take 3-5 business days, generally... Except for AZ, MA and NJ. If you live in one of those states, you're probably painfully familiar with the reason why.

Where do you ship to?

We can ship to: AK, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, HI, IA, ME, MD, MA, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NY, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OR, VT, VA, WY

Within a couple months, we'll be able to ship to: CT, GA, ID, IL, KS, MI, OH, SC, TX, WA, WI

States we're still trying to figure out: LA, TN, WV

Can you ship to a business?

We love shipping to business addresses. Since deliveries are M-F and require a signature, work places tend to be a great way of guaranteeing delivery.

Who will deliver the wine?

You might get wine from GSO, FEDEX or UPS, depending on the shipping service level you've chosen and where you're located. We have multiple warehouses that specialize in getting the wine to you as quickly as possible so you'll receive a timely delivery from a reliable carrier.

What happens if nobody's there to accept the delivery?

The shipper will attempt to deliver three times and then they turn into a pumpkin. Ok, not really. But almost. Some states will actually destroy your parcel if you don't call us up and let us know as soon as this happens. So please call in at 1-800-673-4718 and we can figure out a better time and place to ship the wine.

Can I have the wine shipped to somebody else as a gift?

Yes, but make sure the person is 21 and that they'll sign to receive it. We can also include gift messages. And a big shiny sticker on top of the parcel so they know a friend got it for them.

During checkout, we'll verify that we can legally ship the wine to the address you're sending it to. If there are any problems, we'll let you know before we charge you.

Can you ship to a PO Box?

No, sorry. You need to sign to accept the parcel.

How do I cancel my order?

If you want to cancel your order for any reason give us a ring at 1-800-673-4718 as soon as possible and we'll cancel it for you and give you your money back.

N.B. Because we deliver very promptly and many states have specific laws about the transfer and shipment of wine, it isn't always possible to cancel the delivery. That warehouse team moves as fast as lightning! But you can refuse to accept the wines when they arrive (just tell the delivery person to return the wines to sender). We'll refund your money when the wine arrives back at the warehouse.

What can I do if I don't like the wine?

If you don't like a wine, or it's corked or damaged, then we'll give you a full refund or a credit to your account (UNLESS you live in AZ, MA, or NJ). Email us at chat@nakedwines.com or call us at 1-800-673-4718 and we'll sort it out for you.

N.B. If you have several bottles of the same wine that you want refunded, please leave them unopened as we'll come and collect them. We'll let you know when you get in touch with us.

We don't hate those states. Those states were mean to us first!

These are states where we have to work through what's called a three tier system. The three tier system complicates delivery logistics and makes it impossible for us to refund the wine

Who are the Angels mentioned all over this site?

Angels don't just cut out the middlemen,
they make them look ridiculous.

  1. We spend our lives finding the talented winemakers BEHIND the famous names.
  2. Angels invest in them, so that they can make wines the way they should be made, without compromise.

So how do I become an Angel?

Angels invest in our winemakers. You do that by signing up here to put 40 bucks a month into your Angel account where it will wait for you until you're ready to buy some wine with it.

What do I get as an Angel?

You get remarkable discounts on all the wines the community has financed. You also have access to cool promotional offers like tastings, special events, and sample bottles (to the extent that the crazy US legal system allows us to give you these things). Many of you will also be filled with a warm, fuzzy feeling as you bask in the gratitude of the winemakers (or maybe that's the wine kicking in).

What happens to my money?

Your money just waits for you until you're ready to spend it. We'll never send you unsolicited wine the way most wine clubs do. And if you ever decide that you want the money back, we can refund you completely.

How does any of this affect the wine?

Basically, our winemakers don't waste money on stuff that you can't taste like marketing or high interest rate loans.

  • When 100,000 Angels put money aside in their Angel accounts, we can turn around and invest in winemakers around the world eliminating their need for the banks.
  • Angels simultaneously provide the money to make the wine and an end consumer to drink the wine! That means our winemakers waste no money on marketing or sales since we already know the Angels will snap it all up.
  • Every cent the winemaker spends goes into the quality of the wine to make it taste better. No money goes to the stuff you can't taste. Well aside from a little bit to keep the winemaker and NakedWines.com in business.
  • How do I cancel?

    Canceling your Angel status is easy. You can cancel at any time in the My Account tab of the NakedMe section of the website. Or call us at 1-800-673-4718. Either way, we'll cancel your account and refund any unspent contributions you have made.

    How does this actually affect me?

    1. You squirrel away $40 a month into your NakedWines.com account toward your next order
    2. Yours to spend on ANY of our wines WHENEVER you want
    3. And every time you order, you'll save at least 40% (and up to 50%) on every penny you spend

    Is this a wine club?

    If you're into wine, you probably know that "wine club" has come to refer to a very specific business model where customers pay a certain amount per year and a company (often a winery) sends them regular shipments of wine. We aren't doing that.

    Instead, NakedWines.com customers put money in escrow over the course of the year. And they can come and shop at the site with that money as much or as little as they want. They can assemble cases however they like, only have wines delivered around the holidays or before their birthday or whenever. If you're looking for a company to regularly send you unsolicited wine, we're not it.

    But in the more general sense, we are a group of people who really enjoy wine. So if "wine club" just meant a club that likes wine, we'd be that.

    Shouldn't I just buy direct from the winery?

    Buying direct from wineries is a great way to support already existing winemakers. But you'll pay a lot more without the necessarily benefiting the winemaker.

    Being an Angel means you're financing new winemakers and creating new projects, and you tend to get much more bang for your buck because of that.

    Here's one of our winemakers trying to explain how being a Naked Angel is significantly more beneficial to him than being a member of the wine club:

    Is this a flash sale site?

    Naked goes beyond temporary discounts on wine. We actually make production less costly.

    The UK version of the website does have timed sales offers, but that's not really the cool part of NakedWines.com. Lots of companies have used flash sales to create excitement about a product. But very few companies have found ways to fundamentally change the cost of wine.

    Flash sales are by definition temporary. On the other hand, the value we're creating with the Angel-Winemaker relationship will last year after year. The way Angels crowd-fund wines means that the winemaker never wastes money on sales or marketing. So quality can go up and prices come down vintage after vintage.

    Can I find these wines at a store?

    Virtually all the wines on the site are exclusively sold through Naked. If you manage to find similar wines or wines made by the same winemakers or wines made from the same fruit, they will typically be much more expensive.

    Because Angels finance these wines and promise to drink them all up, winemakers are able to sell it at the true cost without worries about amortizing an International sales force or a Public Relations Brand Manager that they'd need to get their wine entrenched in conventional distribution channels.

    If you're just launching in the US, who funded these winemakers and their wines?

    You got us here. Admittedly, we're the investors for this first vintage. We financed all the wines out of pocket. But we worked the same way, paying up front and making sure the winemakers knew not to waste money on sales and marketing. And we are confident that the next vintage will be well-funded by Angels.

Most of the site navigation is pretty self explanatory. For example, you can find mixed cases under the case tab or assemble your own case through the wines tab.

On the NakedMe tab, you'll find a lot of free tools:

  • Rate your wines, so we can recommend others you'll love (AND tell you what to avoid)
  • Find friends who are already drinking Naked
  • Personalized recommendations, alerts and invitations
  • Check to see what Naked Groups you participate in
  • Post a message to all your buddies (via your wall)
    • Access and edit your NakedWines.com account
    • Update personal details like address details and card details
    • Change the amount you pay into your NakedWines.com account every month

Can I make wine for you?

How does Naked pick winemakers?

We want talented winemakers who can make great wine without wasting time or money on marketing. Many of them come to us.

Why do winemakers work with Naked?

Since we finance everything and sell everything we finance, our winemakers don't have to worry about funding, marketing or sales. Zero risk and more time to concentrate on making great wine tend to be pretty convincing arguments.

How can I work with Naked?

Just drop us an email at suppliers@nakedwines.com. We're looking for talented winemakers who have sussed out great opportunities to make wine and need help with the financing and sales. So tell us what you've done that makes you special, what opportunities you've found, and give us an idea of how we can help you.

What is the MarketPlace thing I heard about?

In the UK, we allow winemakers to pitch their wines directly to consumers through a part of the site called MarketPlace. Feel free to check that out and see how it works. We plan on bringing this to the US one day too.

What the heck is this voucher I received?

We know that trying a new wine can be a scary experience. And we need to earn your trust. So we try to make the first case as affordable as possible.

We'll also try to make the choice easy for you by recommending a case of wine. The recommended case has a good panoply of wines that represent the diversity and quality of our range. That said, if you want to build your own case, feel free to do that under the Wines tab of our website.

Note that the voucher you got should say exactly how much money you get off and it will probably have a minimum spend on there too. Like $50 off of a purchase of at least $200. If your build your own case, make sure that you hit the minimum spend amount or you won't be able to claim the voucher.
