This was a pleasant wine, however it is still pretty young. Not sure how much it will age in the screw cap bottle but I'd definitely recommend decanting or airing it before drinking. I drank half the bottle last night and will update my review after I drink the remainder.

The nose exhibits a nice sm'oaky blackberry juice filled with bell pepper and pencil lead. On the palate, it's a bit tart, tannic and acidic for me. I prefer a more smoother & heavier fruit-bomb in a Zin. It finishes somewhat short with strawberry, mint, and soy on the mouth.

UPDATE 3/24 - Tasted this the second night. The tannins and "green" taste did mellow out, but now the wine has a strong plum or prune taste. Still drinkable, but not your typical Zin. Sorry to say that it did not improve overnight.

A side note, I am very surprised at this review. All of the other wines I have tasted from Jessica are spot on and very drinkable.

Definitely let this wine have some air before enjoying as it was just bottled. It should age and mellow a bit, even in screcap. Most of the Stelvin closures have a saranex liner that can allow some exchange of air, like a cork. This is definitely not the Zin for you if you want a sweeter, fruit bomb. I'm not sure what your typical zin is but there are many different styles. I try to let the vineyard shine through and this is from a high-altitude vineyard, right at the snow line. It is cooler climate so it will be different from the Amador, Lodi zins. Thanks for trying!
