Ocaso Bonarda Syrah 2009
About the wine
.
- Patricio Gouguenheim, the winemaker here, manages to produce top quality wines at almost unbelievably affordable prices. But we're not complaining.
- The Syrah (aka Shiraz) packs a fabulous punch of peppery, rich, plum and damson fruit, that hits the tastebuds like a Ferrari that's had nitro dropped into its fuel tank, whilst the Bonardo adds the juiciness and a nice streak of milk chocolate.
- Lamb chops, thick cut chips, possibly a pea or two, but definitely a bottle of this and you're all set.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Patricio Gouguenheim
- Back in the 1990's, Patricio had a hunch. And so he gave up his prosperous career as a city banker and spent his life savings on an old vineyard. Luckily his hunch was right.
- Mendoza is the heard of Argentina's wine-making country. Very hot days and very cool nights mean buckets of refined, ripe fruit. It's what Argentina does best.
- One of our original winemakers, Patricio supported us at the beginning. And now we support him. And with all that history, he's kindly kept resisted any price hikes.
