Thank you all for the recommendations last night - I found an old Boeuf Bourguignon recipe that I decided to try last night on a whim. I've only ever prepared Julia's BB (which takes all day, but is worth every second), but our Pineapple Express inspired storm had me longing for something comforting & this recipe boasted itself quick & authentic.

It was apparently published in a French cookbook back in the 1930s (the cookbook was dubbed the French version of 'The Joy of Cooking') - so this would be the recipe that French housewives would use and it takes a mere 30 min or less of hands on time and just 2 hours of simmering.

Recipe here: http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1012752-julia-moskins-beef-bourguignon

While it wasn't Julia's BB, it was delicious and warmed us up. This recipe will do the trick if you find yourself with a Boeuf Bourguignon hankering that can't wait 8 hours. ;)

I was also able to get my hands on the newly released Pinot Noir by Benjamin Darnault! I don't have the best tasting notes as I'm in the midst of a respiratory infection, but the pairing was a delightful one!

It's not from the traditional Pinot Noir growing region of France - I found this to be less earthy and more fruit forward (think fresh picked cherries) than a traditional Burgundy.

See, you should have joined us for 'Movie, Wine and Dine' Episode 1. We had several different takes on BB.

I remember, Michael! I believe I went on a spontaneous camping trip that day - My weekends tend to be a bit chaotic when the weather is nice. ;)

This looks like a great recipe.. and we are definitely going to try it.
The JC BB is amazing but like you, we've found that limited time has prevented us from creating it for sometime now.

I'd never made BB before our first movie night - and can't imagine that I would use that recipe again. But...it was tasty!!!!
