This seriously talented Napa winemaker is ready to have some FUN.
- Before he was a winemaker, David was a budding historian. But all that talk about the classics and terracotta wine vessels got him thinking he was in the wrong industry....
- So he took a running leap at winemaking! He ended up traveling the globe for wine (and studying at the University of Adelaide) to perfect his craft.
- He's led winemaking teams for some HUGE Napa/Sonoma names, including Paraduxx (a sister winery to Duckhorn) and Gundlach Bundschu. He knows Napa wines through-and-through... and you fund some of his best yet!
David Marchesi's Story
David’s a top-tier California winemaker, having wines for some of the most respected names in the business, like Paraduxx (a Duckhorn winery), Cakebread and Gundlach Bundschu. But it wasn't always the plan – back when David was a student at the University of San Diego, he thought he'd be a history teacher.
All that changed when he started learning about wine and its impact in early civilizations. He got so entranced by it all that he took off for wine country after graduation, and hasn't looked back since.
He's spent time all around the world, but he found his footing in Napa and Sonoma, making wine for some of the most accoladed brands in the U.S. But all that success didn’t give him the chance to make the wines he dreamed of — only Angels could do that.
Working for top-tier brands, you're asked to keep vintages the same, year after year. Consistency and tradition is huge for classic wineries – and David was great at it, but he was curious for something more.
"Thanks to this community, I'm able to have some fun," said David.
