It took a hot air balloon for Geoff to fall in love with wine. Spending much of his early 20s way up in the air above Australia's massive wine AVAs, he made a decision: As soon as he more time on the ground, it'd be in the vineyard. "I love everything about winemaking...the vineyards, the winemaking process, the people, the food," says Geoff. It's his passion!
Geoff climbed the grape ladder through to the position of Senior Winemaker, finding himself working with a large producer, super premium fruit, and loads of warm climate vineyards. He's now been a winemaker for over 14 years – all of those years spent fine-tuning his craft before going out on his own proved to be the perfect mix.
Geoff knows the landscape of South Australia better than anyone – and loves highlighting its diverse varietals and regions. He's able to offer Angels great value, while producing incredibly high quality, single vineyard wines from premium growing regions.
He has plenty of gold wine medals and trophies making wine for big name Australian producers, but if you ask Geoff, he'll tell you: Nothing beats the opportunity for him to focus on his own wines, and let his Lodestar brand shine. It was early in 2013 when he decided to press the button on his own dream - and here he is, going strong!
