"My name is Rafael and I was born here in Chile. I studied Agronomy and Enology in Chile at Catolica University. Some highlights of my career so far…
- 1994 to 1997, Chief Wine maker in Terranoble, Small winery located in the south of Chile, high quality Wine.
- Spend time working in Loire-France and Rioja-Spain
- 1998 – 2007, Chief Wine maker in Veramonte, high quality wines production in Casablanca Valley- Chile, excellent valley for White and Pinot Noir.
- Spend many time working in United State, Franciscan, Quintessa, Simi, Estancia.
- 2007 – today, Chief wine maker in VIA Wines, located in the south of Chile – Maule Valley.
- 1993 – today, develop my own project, Laberinto Wines, small boutique winery, low yield, hand work, located in the Andes mountain, which receive all the Andes mountain influence, fresh day, cold night.
Really, I like the wine, I like to drink good wine and I enjoy the vineyard and all the processes involved. My other passions are really my family.. ohh and to sail too!
There were many difficult moments along the journey we took to make this wine, it is not easy, but finally you enjoy the result. My most memorable moment was when I tasted the first tank fermenting and discovered the quality.
My dream for the future is to move the vineyard to a canopy more open and to have more light and air, to not wire the vines and let them be more free.
The thing that really drives me forward in my winemaking is when I taste boring wines without personality!
One of my proudest moments was having my Sauvignon Blanc Labertino listed as Chiles best white wine in the wine guide Descorchados.
I really like the way that Naked Wines does business... they heard of my wines success, found my phone number and called me. Within an hour of us talking the wine could be bought on the site. Very exciting for me! I really look forward to hearing what you think when the wine arrives.
