About the wine
A deep, daring Moon Mountain masterpiece
Like a farmer’s market stand packed with fresh berries, this is a fruit-forward, luxurious, ultra-ripe and seductive Cabernet, brimming with brambly blackberries, cherries and juicy plums with a finish that’s just so long and smooth.
And the fact that it’s from Moon Mountain – the highest mountainside sub-appellation in Sonoma Valley – is really special. This is a super-rare, super-exclusive set of vineyards that get doused in morning sun and produce small, concentrated grapes. That's where all those intense flavors come in!
Powered by Angel funding, Ana traversed the hillside rows to find the perfect Cabernet clusters for this dynamo red, adding in some extra indulgence with oak barrel aging. Now you’re getting an extravagant dose of wine country for a fraction of the one-in-a-million price tag!
Best before
If the Angels are patient (or can put a few bottles aside), this wine will age beautifully for the next 5 - 8 years. However, if you're as impatient as I am and choose to drink it right away, please be sure to decant the wine, in order to let it "breathe" properly. It will bring out all the wonderful dark fruit aromas, and smooth the bold tannins.
Serving advice
This is a bold Cabernet Sauvignon. Therefore, please be sure to open your bottle at least 1 hour before enjoying it. I advise the Angels to pour a glass, when they open the bottle, and to smell it and taste it as it sits on the glass. It is fascinating to see how the wine opens up, how the beautiful dark fruit really comes through, and the tannins gradually get smoother.
Food match
For me, this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon would pair beautifully with a nice roast of beef or lamb.
A nice plate of strong cheeses (think blue cheese or aged cheddar) would also be a great accompaniment for this wine.
If you're looking for a vegetarian pairing, I would go with a mushroom risotto, or a spicy vegetarian pizza.
