Camille Benitah Tempete Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
About the wine
Rich, brooding, swirling with dark fruit - no wonder it's called "the storm"
She's spent years at boutique cult wineries, crafting $150+ Cabs – and now, Camille's used her connections to buy gorgeous Napa Cab from a luxury producer – and make it for YOU instead.
Hand-harvested from premiere hillside vineyards in the heart of Napa, Camille smoothed out this top-shelf red in French Oak barrels for a whopping 20 months. That's what gives this special vintage its luscious complexity, juicy swirls of dark fruit and silky-smooth texture.
...and to think, without Angels, her dream project would’ve never existed. Camille lost 100% of her grapes to devastating wildfires in 2017 – but your special funding gave her the chance to start again. This limited-edition Napa Cabernet is your well-earned reward!
Best before
I think it will evolve for a while. It's ready to enjoy now, and it will change over time and soften with age through 2025.
Serving advice
Open an hour before as it should be pleasant right away!
Food match
Steak is always the best option. Roasted and stewed meats also flatter the wine (and the wine will flatter the meats as well!) For vegetarians, I recommend tajine and earthy stews.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Camille Benitah
- Camille learned her craft in Bordeaux, France working at very prestigious Chateaux there. She moved to California and was the winemaker for one of Napa's most sought-out cult wines, Merus ($150 a bottle).
- But like all real artists, Camille wanted to make her own wine, her own way -- and Angels allow her to do just that. She's uncompromising and fiercely protective of her wines every step of the way.
- We didn't hold anything back with Camille. She gets to make her dream wine, no holds barred, and the results are spectacular.
