About the wine
Prized Pinot Blanc from the heart of Willamette Valley
This white Willamette wonder is crisp, bouncy and bright, dripping with flavors of luscious, mouthwatering melon and peach, and perfectly balanced with a touch of tropical fruits and traces of tangy citrus, thanks to careful fermentation in French oak barrels.
Originally from Germany and Northern Italy, Pinot Blanc is a super rare find on this side of the world. But with your support, Chris scouted out a tiny Pinot patch growing in two prestige vineyards right in his backyard of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
In fact, Pinot Blanc is so hard to find that Chris could only harvest enough to bring you less than 500 cases. It’s the kind of wine that only happens when all the stars align and a winemaker is in the right place at exactly the right time – and it all happened because of you!
Best before
This wine is ready to drink now. It will be fantastic this summer on a warm evening while grilling. It could age for a few years if lost in the wine closet and will be stellar, but I doubt it will last until June.
Serving advice
The fine attributes will not disappear if seriously chilled. That said, as the wine warms in the glass the domination by citrus and acidity will fade and some serious complexity will develop. I would recommend allowing at least 1 glass to warm to 50ºF or so to gain the full appreciation of this wine.
Food match
Pinot Blanc in your summer rotation is amazing with all sorts of food, especially warm weather-inspired dishes like flame-kissed meats and seasonal seafood. For me grilled halibut plus Pinot Blanc equals bliss. Playful citrus flavors also make so much sense for my favorite, a Dungeness crab boil on the beach. Who needs lemon when you're pouring this and going nuts for the sweet crustacean?
