About the wine
Rare Calaveras red - Stephen's favorite Zin yet!
- Harvested from 30, 50 - even 100-year-old vines - grown in the heart of Calaveras County. You don't find a lot of these Zins around!
- Stephen says: "This wine has really good color and body, and a nice Calaveras perfume that the old vines contribute. I think this is the best Calaveras Zin I've made so far for Angels!"
- Dig a knife into some creamy aged cheese - slather a chunk on top of a warm slice of French bread, and have plenty of this flavor-packed red nearby. Bliss.
Best before
This Calaveras County Zinfandel will age nicely for the next five years or so. But don't wait that long to experience it while it's young. Invite a few friends over when you do open it so you can show off your wine knowledge by pouring them something they've probably never heard of. Enjoy!
Serving advice
This wine will probably need a few minutes to gather itself up and put on a good display in your glass when first opened.
Food match
Sometimes the most simple pleasures are the most memorable. We often enjoy this wine with friends and we serve them our home made sourdough bread, fresh goat brie cheese with a savory tapenade.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
