About the wine
Rustic, single-vineyard red from one of Chile's leading winemakers
- Irene’s Carmenere captures the lean, rustic character this red is famous for in Chile, with dark fruit flavors, savory spices and a long, smooth finish thanks to more than a year of oak barrel aging.
- Your funding gave Irene special access to a single vineyard in Peumo, a tiny village with a BIG reputation as one of the most sought-after spots for Carmenere in all of Chile.
- Irene chose this unique vineyard for its perfect positioning on a sunny hillside, where the grapes get some of the best conditions in the area to ripen slowly and evenly, developing full, complex flavors that she then brings to you.
Best before
This Carmenere will age well for the next 3-4 years, but is also delicious right now.
Serving advice
It's best to open this wine 40 to 60 minutes in advance, or decant it if possible. This will help it open and show all of its great complexity.
Food match
Meats in general go well with this red, especially empanadas. Asian food is a wonderful match as well.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Irene Paiva
Irene had a hand in most of the top wines in Chile. As a pioneering women winemaker in South America, she's cited in loads of wine curriculum books across the world for her influence in the region!
Being an independent winemaker in Chile is rare, and Irene leads the way. With over 20 years of experience, she is a highly sought-after winemaking consultant and manages her own vineyard estate...
... that’s where her Angel-funded wines come from. She’s made wines for Chile's big names (including San Pedro and Sena, Robert Mondavi’s Chilean brand with Eduardo Chadwick) but her very favorite consultant is YOU.
