Jarvis Tomei Old Scary Zinfandel El Dorado County 2016
About the wine
Rich and smoky Zin from the Sierras
- This rich and ripe Zinfandel comes from a vineyard atop Sierra Foothills (at 3,000 feet!) Thanks to the heat and sun of a Sierra summer, this wine grew up to be powerful, juicy, and b-o-l-d!
- Your funding gave Jeff and Jessica the chance to age this Zin in oak - and those warm and toasty flavors are inside every sip!
- Past vintages have sold out in a few weeks and we expect the same to happen again. Act now or you may never get to taste this wine.
Best before
This wine can be drunk young and fresh but will also age nicely for 5-7 years. It will be most optimum to let it rest a year to allow the flavors to develop.
Serving advice
This wine should be opened and allowed to aerate in the first year of aging to show its full potential and complexity. I believe Zinfandel shows its best at cellar temperature accentuating the freshness of the acidity and quieting the ripeness.
Food match
Santa Maria Barbecue.... My uncle Mike perfected this and it is always my favorite way to enjoy this wine if we can.
Tri Tip - Not marinated but rubbed in Olive Oil, fresh garlic, Salt and Pepper.
Pinquito beans - with some smoked applwood bacon and onions.
fresh green salad - preferably from your garden
Sour dough Toast - slightly blackened
Homeade Chimichurri - a little heat from your favorite pepper

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jarvis Tomei Family
Years Angel-funded: 2012-18
- Jeff and Jessica worked around the world at top wineries in Italy, Chile and all over before settling down in California to craft boutique wines and make a family.
- Being a small boutique winemaker means a lot of time in the cellar and even more time selling the wine on the road. Angel-funding gave Jeff and Jessica to make and sell great wine without sacrificing the time to make memories with their kids while they were tots.
- And through a special rescue wine, Angels gave this family the funds they needed to stay afloat to cover their daughter's medical bills. 'Helping Hand' is the wine they made to thank you for your generosity!
