Jim Olsen Field Blend Fair Play California 2016
About the wine
A wildly original, Portuguese-inspired red... from a secret CA region
- This is a field blend which means the grapevines are all mixed up and the blend is determined in the field. It's like a gourmet grab bag... with the best candy inside.
- Jim used Angel funding to get amazing fruit from a single vineyard planted 2,000 feet above sea level in a little place called Fair Play. This field blend is a true Naked original, featuring ancient European varieties like Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, and Souzao.
- Thanks to Angels, Jim got to work with an amazing vineyard and make you a stellar wine from a brand new wine AVA. And it tastes SO great, we don't care how hard those grapes are to pronounce!

Enjoy late Summer or Fall, but previous vintages have improved for 2/3 years.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jim Olsen
Years Angel-funded: 2012-18
- Jim didn't just study wine at the University of California, he taught about it for 30 years.
- Before Naked, he worked mainstream jobs like La Crema and held quirkier side gigs - like growing Portuguese grapes in Californian soil.
- Jim spent decades in California cellars. At Naked, he found the most surprising deals for Angels - delighting you with Winemaker Fantasy wines (like White Barbera!) as a true champion of the rare varieties and vineyards in the state.
