Lacaze Azul 2011
About the wine
Top-shelf wine from one of Chile's top winemakers
- Jean Pascal really wanted to make a top of the line red, powerful, refined, full of deep dark fruit and a silky vanilla finish from expensive oak aging. He had access to Chile's finest vineyards, a state of the art winery, and he just needed the money and time to age this brooding 2011.
- His day job is making the critically acclaimed Domus Aurea ($60/bottle) so he knows how to make 90+ point fine wine.
- And thanks to Angel funding, you cut the costs of selling and marketing that wine, so you get it at the stunningly low price of $21.99 – it's still a splurge, but definitely worth it.
Best before
Will be great in a couple of years, and until 2015 for the less patient...

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jean Pascal Lacaze
- When his main client went bust this brilliant winemaker was left in a pretty sticky situation, thankfully we met him at the right time and with Angel funding rescued his delicious wine!
- Originally trained in Bordeaux, he is now an iconic winemaker in Chile, famous for his Domus Aurea Cabernet Sauvignon. Every vintage he has produced has got a 90+ rating and is dripping with medals and critical acclaim.
- Those wines sell for an average of $60 a bottle, now we have his very own range, exclusive to us, for just a snip of the price. All thanks to Angel support!
