Lay of the Land Sauvignon Blanc 2015
About the wine
High grade Marlborough Sauvignon from the former winemaker of Jackson Estate
- Pure fruit and intense citrus zestiness. This is some high grade Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
- Mike uses Angel funding to work with vineyards in 3 different sub-regions which each impart a special quality to the wine: Rapaura (structure and lift), Lower Wairau (exotic fruit and floral character), and Waihopai Valley (citrus drive and weight) – the result is a blend that really expresses the 2015 vintage.
- If you're a fan of New Zealand wine, Mike is a master and this is the proof. Makes me want to pan sear some tilapia with a zest of lemon or some other fishy fare. If that sounds good, you should make sure you have a few of these in your next order.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Mike Paterson
- Mike used to be the Head Winemaker at one of New Zealand's finest, most prestigious Sauvignon Blanc wineries.
- He loved the job, but he also loved the idea of fulfilling his life-long dream of going it alone. Only problem was, the financial equation was "beyond scary" (as Mike put it!).
- That's where we (and our 100,000 Angels) stepped in. We've funded Mike to go it alone on one tiny, simple, lovely condition: he makes you some absolute stunners in the wine department. And from what we've tasted so far he's been true to his word...
