Rick Boyer Santa Barbara Viognier 2018
About the wine
A full, fruity white wine from sunny Santa Barbara
A tropical medley of pineapple and peach crosses paths with vanilla and a splash of lemon for some seriously refreshing sipping capped off by a long, smooth finish.
With state of the art farming, gentle processing and – most importantly – Angel funding, Rick took these grapes from the oldest vineyard in Santa Barbara County and turned them into a full, juicy summer white just for you.
Rick made this wine with immediate drinking in mind, but says aging it for a few years could also bring out a little more flavor depth. When the time is right, sipping alongside an extravagant dinner plate of surf and turf - like sizzling steak with buttery lobster - is a must.
Best before
Will age well for 4-5 years, but built to drink now. It is all about the now experience.
Serving advice
Open the bottle. Pour the wine into your glass, or your friend's glass. Drink it. Smile.
Food match
Fresh caught lobster. We go out in our kayaks, throw out the traps, open a beer, drink the beer, pull up the trap, grill the lobster and dig in. Hard to beat the meal.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rick Boyer
- We’ve been looking for an experienced winemaker familiar with the
Central Coast and Monterey area in particular – we knew Rick fit the bill. He's farmed gorgeous, cool SoCal vineyards for over 25 years! - He had been making wine his whole life, but got out of the biz (to start a bonsai
business) because the risk and middlemen got in the way of his passion. He's back in, thanks to you! - What makes Rick's wines special? "I take a different perspective compared to a lot of other wines out there - like Euro style; feminine; delicate - like focused generous reds, focused complex whites; plenty of persistence, fruit, and flavor."
