Ted Henry PRIME District 4 Red 2016
About the wine
Complex, fruit-driven barrel-aged red - a specialty blend from a top Napa talent
- A solid base of classic Cabernet Sauvignon starts this red blend off with powerful dark fruit flavors like plum and black cherry, followed by a touch of florals from Petit Verdot, like taking a whiff of fresh-picked violets, while a dash of pepper from old vine Syrah rounds everything off.
- Winemaker Ted Henry traditionally makes this wine using a blend of Bordeaux varietals like Cab and Petite Verdot, but for this vintage he added a special touch of fruity character from old vine Syrah and aged everything in French oak barrels for an extra layer of complexity.
- A few years of bottle aging on top of Ted’s regimen of oak barrel aging has helped this red blend’s flavors evolve and take on an even deeper set of flavors – scoop up a bottle or two while supplies last and prepare your tastebuds for a decadent treat!
Best before
This bottling can be enjoyed now, but will also continue to age well over the next couple years.
Serving advice
There's no need for decanting or filtering the wine in any way. Simply pop the cork and pour!
Food match
This is an excellent pairing with a lot of Italian dishes. Most recently I enjoyed it with a fantastic Bolognese sauce (the real kind, not the thick, red sauce).
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ted Henry
-
In addition to his day job running a world-famous Napa winery, Ted Henry runs a small-production Cabernet house that focuses on his favorite parts of the valley: Stags Leap District and Coombsville.
-
“For me, this is mecca — where great wine is made. I’m a kid in a candy store. Napa is a fascinating place — so well preserved as an agricultural region even though it’s near the city," Ted says. And while it’s flush with top-shelf, top-dollar Cabernets galore…
-
Ted insists there is incredible value in the niche eastern hills and prime pockets of Napa Valley most wine drinkers don’t yet know. “Angels’ support can help the quest to find great value in top quality Napa Cabernet. Thank you!”
