Tom Shula California Red 2016
About the wine
You love Tom's reds - and he's really upped the ante with this one
- Tom's popular red blends have propelled his success – so when he received carte blanche to craft a new wine, he knew just what to do...
- ...make another deeply delicious red that embraces the bold flavors of California! Fruity Syrah, inky Tannat, aromatic Merlot and plummy Malbec masterfully make for a new Shula signature you're bound to love.
- Toss carne asada and chiles with lime and salt – and fire up the grill (be sure to warm tortillas while you're at it!) Fresh Mex tastes even better with a tall glass of this peppery red nearby.
Best before
This wine will be enjoyable on release (see opening notes). I expect it to be most enjoyable over the next 2-4 years.
Serving advice
As with most young reds, this wine will benefit from some air to show its best. You can open and decant immediately before serving, or just pour a bit from the bottle 30-60 minutes before serving.
Food match
I think this wine would be delicious with flavorful grilled meats like carne asada, pork al pastor, or gyros.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Tom Shula
- Tom Shula was one of our first 1,000 Angels. His passion for winemaking led him to make a barrel or two in his garage.
- His wines were so fantastic that we took a huge gamble. 49,999 other Angels teamed up and raised about a million bucks for Tom to work with his dream vineyards and make his dream wines at a professional, state-of-the-art winery!
- If you like rooting for the little guy, Tom's your man. He started in his garage and now he's making award-winning wines and living his dream. All thanks to you!
