About the wine
Velvety single-vineyard Napa Cabernet from legendary Diamond Mountain
- Rudy’s decadent Cabernet is elegant, intense and drenched in dark, ripe raspberry and cherry, balanced by a light touch of vanilla and an oh-so-smooth texture from several years of barrel aging.
- Vineyard 2131 is one of the smallest vineyards in one of Napa’s smallest subregions, where the grapes are packed with huge flavors that burst out in the finished wine. There are Napa Cabs – and then there are Diamond Mountain Cabs!
- Rudy’s been making world-class Cabernet on Diamond Mountain for more than 30 years, and his 2017 vintage is one for the books. But with only 80 cases available, blink and you could miss it!
Best before
I love my DMD Cabs with about 10 - 15 years of age on them. At that point they still have some youthful fruit characteristics, but are starting to show aged flavors and a softer texture. But only age this Cab if you have a good temperature regulated cellar for it: heat speeds up aging.
Serving advice
Invite your best friends over and decant this Cab in case there is sediment. Start drinking soon after opening to allow yourself the fun of experiencing the changes to the wine that will happen in your glass.

My favorite pairing with this Cabernet is hearty Hungarian goulash served with dark rye bread.

Meet the winemaker - Rudy von Strasser
Rudy von Strasser is a Napa legend — he played a huge part in founding the Diamond Mountain District, famous for its Cabernet. By rallying everyone in the region, he put the AVA (American Viticultural Area) on the map in 1999!
Rudy met Naked through Alex Farber — he was looking to expand his portfolio with some beautiful Petite Sirah, but didn’t have enough room in his winery.
Angel funding helped make that Petite Sirah possible. When he brought us his other wines, we knew we’d hit the jackpot! Rudy’s now able to share his wide range of Diamond Mountain District wines with Angels across the country.
