About the wine
A deeply elegant Portuguese red soaked in dark, brambly fruit and light, toasty spices
Full of lush flavor and luxurious intensity, this medium-bodied red is smooth and well-rounded, blushing with ripe fruit and rich chocolate.
Ana found the perfect fruit for her Portuguese Touriga outside Amador, surrounded by lakes and fine, sandy soils – perfect for this sun-loving red grape.
Rich, anchovy-laced tomato sauces love this bold Portuguese red. Bring this one to the party with a slow cooked ragu and a torn loaf of fresh, crusty bread.
Best before
Due to the fact that this wine presents a distinguished tannin profile, rich in color, and with great natural acidity, it will age in your cellar over a long period of time. I'd dare to say, 5 to 10 years!
Serving advice
Please be sure to open it at least one to two hours before drinking it, so all the flavors can fully emerge, as well as to soften those powerful tannins.
Ideally this wine will be decanted for at least one hour (two ideally), so that all its unique aromas can fully be experienced. But, please, be sure to pour yourself a healthy glass, so you can sip and see how it opens up over time.
Food match
A rich cheese, as a Stilton/Roquefort/Gorgonzola...yum. It's a match made in heaven! Don't forget the bread!
Any Italian dish, with a rich tomato sauce, will be brilliant with this wine too. But it's gotta be the real deal tomato sauce!
A nice cut of meat, slowly roasted, paired with a tangy green salad is also a top pairing.
My heart falls for a homemade spaghetti carbonara with this wine. I keep going back to that pairing.
Contains sulphites
