It’s back! Once a year, Stephen makes a special blend of his most popular wine, just in time for the long winter months ahead.
Your Winemaker of the Year took his smooth, top-shelf Black Label Cab and turned it up to an 11 with sultry dark fruits like blackberry and rich toasted flavors like the crust of cherry pie – so soft and smooth! – you'll love every slurp.
For this turbo-charged, once-a-year Cab, Stephen meticulously blended in a bit more Calaveras County fruit to give it that extra ‘oomph’! Just when you thought Stephen’s most popular Cab couldn’t get any better...
Best before
I know this wine will age very nicely. Every so often we try an older bottling at home and it never disappoints. How long I'm not really sure but it's been fun checking the older wines out.
Serving advice
This bottling is cork finished to help it age gracefully in your cellar. This special bottling "Winter Cab" will reward those lucky enough to get some and when you open the specially decorated bottle everyone at table will make sure to take notice.
Food match
I dunno, it seems I always go for the beef whenever I open this wine. Our current go-to preparation is to serve it with an oven-finished filet roast. The roast starts out in a cast iron skillet on the stovetop and ends up in the oven. It sounds so good because it is. Liz also complements the roast with her famous little greasy red potatoes drizzled with olive oil and fresh ground chunky sea salt. Then we pair things up with fresh-cut asparagus. A simple meal made with the freshest ingredients.

- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
