About the wine
Rare single-vineyard Reserve Barbera from Winemaker of the Year Karen Birmingham!
- This Reserve Barbera is a complex masterpiece, with a soul-warming set of luscious cherry, strawberry and spice flavors and a refined, powerful smoothness that only Winemaker of the Year Karen Birmingham could have pulled off.
- Barbera is a first-rate classic red over in Italy, but in Northern California? Not so much. In fact, it’s exceedingly rare on the West Coast, but with your funding behind her, Karen set out to prove just how dreamy and decadent a Barbera from her beloved home region of Lodi could really be.
- With your support there for her every step of the way, Karen sourced rare grapes from a single vineyard of Barbera growing in the southern hills of Lodi and even gave the wine an extra year of barrel aging in American oak. The result? A truly stunning Karen original that's giving Italy a run for its money!
Best before
This wine will taste best if you can wait a few months to open it, Karen says. Lay it in your cellar and be patient, if possible.
Serving advice

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Karen Birmingham
- Karen Birmingham proved her incredible talent working for years at sustainable winery LangeTwins (with David Akiyoshi).
- Angel funding has helped her start her own project featuring breathtaking grape varieties many Lodi wineries are afraid of playing with!
- Karen's delicate touch always brings out the best in the fruit (she's won back-to-back Gold and Double Gold medals to prove it!) and really makes these grapes shine in the warm, sandy soils she calls home.
