Mr Glover Chardonnay Marlborough 2014
About the wine
Angels helped this this 4th generation grape growing family make their own Chardonnay for the first time.
Ben Glover, your 4th generation Marlborough farmer and Angel-funded winemaker says:
- "Planting these Chardonnay vines in 1988 was a god-send. The free draining 'alluvial' soils in the Dillon’s Point sub region give the Chard a vibrant, citrus flavor and a lot of depth and texture."
- "The grapes have been sold to some of the best Chardonnay producers in the region – Wither Hills and Highfield Estate to name a few – and it's leant backbone and intensity to their wines."
- "And now, thanks to Angels, this is the very first vintage my family will make Chardonnay off our own vineyard and we are wrapped (that's kiwi for very very excited!) There are only 250 cases so we hope every bottle makes it into a New World Chardonnay-loving home."

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ben Glover
- Ben is an award-winning winemaker who made truly yummy wines for some of New Zealand's biggest brands, but he really missed making small batches of artisan wine from his family vines.
- Angel funding lets him do just that, so we've got a couple small batches of Pinot Noir and Chard (the same varieties that earned him accolades at Wither Hills) and everything gets the royal treatment, every little detail attended to with care and love just short of giving each individual grape a first and last name
- Ben's a specialist at New Zealand Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - his wines are the golden standard for the entire country!
