Ondine Chattan Presents Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay 2018
About the wine
Bright, elegant Chardonnay from your Sonoma specialist
- Ondine’s lively, refined Chardonnay opens up with ripe flavors of tropical fruit and crisp green apple that lead to a soft, toasty layer of oak and vanilla, thanks to a bit of aging in French oak.
- Ondine used your funding to harvest her Chardonnay from the heart of Dry Creek Valley, one of her favorite subregions of Sonoma, where deep, rich topsoils and warm, sunny days helped the grapes develop a bright, complex set of flavors that she expertly coaxed out in the finished wine.
- When it comes to food pairings, this Chardonnay is wonderfully versatile, matching up with everything from frittata at brunch to creamy pasta at dinner. Or, if you’re looking for the perfect white wine for warm-weather porch sipping, it can also hold the spotlight all on its own.
Best before
This wine is designed for near-term enjoyment rather than for long-term aging. Store it in a cool, dark location and serve it with your family meals (buttermilk fried chicken and waffles is a treat) or sip on a glass accompanied by a handful of Marcona almonds. I enjoy this Chardonnay with comfort food from macaroni and cheese to pot pies. This wine is versatile and agreeable with a broad range of flavors.
Serving advice
Chill prior to serving and it will drink best over the first two days after opening. This is not a wine for cellaring, as it is predominately fruit-driven and it will drink best in its youth. A splash of Chardonnay in fish, pasta, or vegetable dishes will bring a little zip and pleasing tanginess to the meal.
Food match
Duck-fat fried french fries with Laura Chenel Chevre (goat cheese) is an indulgent pairing, playing off the richness of the wine and mitigating the oil of the dish with the acidity of the wine. For more of a main course, linguine with langoustines sautéed in butter and a splash of white wine, finished with capers, a twist of lemon and shaved fontina cheese would be delicious.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ondine Chattan
Unmistakably one of the North Coast’s top winemaking talents, Ondine Chattan’s worked for wine institutions – famed wineries like Ridge Vineyards, Cline Cellars, and spent decades running famed Healdsburg winery Geyser Peak.
Does Geyser Peak sound familiar? It should – it’s the long-time winemaking home of one legendary Daryl Groom – and it’s where these decades-long colleagues and friends met. They’re still close… in fact, they might collaborate on exclusive wines now and again.*wink.*
Ondine is awestruck by the wine community Angels have built – and she wants to help it grow. “I truly connect to people through the wines I make,” she said. “The stories of the growers, the vineyards, and the process behind the wine are as vital to me as grapes.”
