Rick Boyer Santa Barbara Syrah 2018
About the wine
Make a toast to the coast with Rick's oh-so-savory Syrah
- The kind of dark and toasty red that belongs in a log cabin – full of cozy winter flavors like plums, cocoa and woodsy barrel-age.
- ...made by your Santa Barbara savant, Rick! He's a winemaking guru when it comes to cool-climate creations like this savory Syrah, with 30+ years of coastal winemaking experience. Just one sip of this treasure from Rick and you'll see where your Angel funding went!
- Serve with juicy pork ribs, slathered in a spicy-sweet marinade. It might be the messiest meal ever... but worth it? 100%.
Best before
The wine will age well for 5-6 years, but is very enjoyable early in its life.
Serving advice
Open it when you are feeling good and want some pleasure in your glass.
Food match
Oak-smoked pork ribs. Duck lasagna is pretty good also.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rick Boyer
- We’ve been looking for an experienced winemaker familiar with the
Central Coast and Monterey area in particular – we knew Rick fit the bill. He's farmed gorgeous, cool SoCal vineyards for over 25 years! - He had been making wine his whole life, but got out of the biz (to start a bonsai
business) because the risk and middlemen got in the way of his passion. He's back in, thanks to you! - What makes Rick's wines special? "I take a different perspective compared to a lot of other wines out there - like Euro style; feminine; delicate - like focused generous reds, focused complex whites; plenty of persistence, fruit, and flavor."
