Scott McLeod Merlot El Dorado County 2014
About the wine
Napa legend making Merlot in the Foothills
- This is a smooooth operator. Pure Merlot (from the Pilot Hill Gang Vineyard that goes into Scott and Matt's El Dorado red blend).
- This broad, expansive Merlot is both powerful and smooth. The fruit in El Dorado is forceful and rugged, so Scott and Matt worked together to extract the flavor and beauty of these grapes while leaving behind the courser, rougher elements.
- Full, generous fruit flavors with a hint of toast and vanilla from extended barrel aging – a dark, concentrated wine that's pairs perfectly with a tender slice of beef, the thicker the better.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Scott McLeod
- When Scott Mcleod said he would make a wine exclusively with Angel funding, everybody in Napa was talking. This guy is seriously famous – after all, he was at the helm of Francis Ford Coppola's flagship Rubicon wine and helped create one of the Valley's most iconic wines.
- And he's incredibly passionate. Scott's actually got his own vineyard now in a beautiful region that he thinks could be more famous than Napa one day.
- And Angels are funding him to make beautiful wines. Besides working for famous directors like Coppola and George Lucas, Scott is just an incredibly talented and passionate winemaker. You're going to love everything he does.
