Rick Boyer Central Coast Unoaked Chardonnay 2018
About the wine
Crisp and clean from the California coast - this cool-climate Chardonnay is a real catch
Tend to turn your nose up to buttery Chardonnay? Give Rick’s a try – his unique, unoaked white is overflowing with fresh fruit flavors like ripe nectarines, tropical fruit and a touch of golden honey.
With Angel support, Rick gathered grapes from a cool hillside vineyard off California’s Central Coast, fermented them cold for vibrant flavor and aged the wine on lees to give your crisp Chardonnay the perfect amount of creaminess.
Only a winemaker with 30+ years of experience could bring you a luxurious white like this – and Rick’s thankful that you let him! Pour a frosty glass of this refreshing Chardonnay with fresh-grilled lemon cod, kick your feet up… and call it a day
Best before
This wine is made in a 'drink-now' style. Will age for 3-4 years because of the chemistry, but is an open, fruit-driven wine.
Serving advice
Open it as soon as you can and drink it with friends, family or just enjoy a glass while you are chilling and smiling.
Food match
I like it with grilled salmon. It is also very tasty with shrimp pasta with basil, tarragon and parmesan cheese.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rick Boyer
- We’ve been looking for an experienced winemaker familiar with the
Central Coast and Monterey area in particular – we knew Rick fit the bill. He's farmed gorgeous, cool SoCal vineyards for over 25 years! - He had been making wine his whole life, but got out of the biz (to start a bonsai
business) because the risk and middlemen got in the way of his passion. He's back in, thanks to you! - What makes Rick's wines special? "I take a different perspective compared to a lot of other wines out there - like Euro style; feminine; delicate - like focused generous reds, focused complex whites; plenty of persistence, fruit, and flavor."
