About the wine
A classic California Cab from your Winemaker of the Year
- Stephen brings you this classic California Cabernet with a delicious dive into dark berries and cherries leading into a long, complex finish.
- Thanks to Angel funding, your 3-time Winemaker of the Year was able to personally select a single estate vineyard in Lodi with the best grapes possible for bringing out this Cabernet’s fullest colors and flavors – just for you!
- This luscious red can easily hold its own against other California Cabernets, at a value hard (impossible?) to beat. Stephen plans to sip it with a grilled bone-in rib-eye on the side – he suggests you do the same!
Best before
My Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon is quite nice when released but it will reward cellaring for a couple of years for longer term enjoyment. But really, why wait?
Serving advice
When this wine is very young decanting might be a good strategy to bring out its fruit and fine balance. But later opening and holding back for 45 minutes or so before taking that first taste should work just as well.
Food match
As spring is about to spring itself upon us I'm planning to fire up our Weber and grill a 1.5" thick bone in rib-eye for tonight's dinner. Naturally we'll be enjoying a glass or two of my 2017 Angels Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to gold medals, but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- We offered Stephen some Angel funding to set aside some of his favorites wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for us, and he jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the over-looked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
