About the wine
Ridiculous value for such an elegant Merlot with finesse and grace
- Such an enjoyable Merlot with layers of lavish berry and plum fruit and rich earthy notes. Super-approachable and SUPER-enjoyable.
- Karen uses Angel funding to make wines that defy convention - when most Lodi producers are making fruit bomb zins, she makes this pure expression of Merlot with 13.5% alc and a refreshing finish.
- If you like fine foodie reds, this is an unbelievable value that you will want to add to your basket on every single order.

- Karen Birmingham proved her incredible talent working for years at sustainable winery LangeTwins (with David Akiyoshi).
- Angel funding has helped her start her own project featuring breathtaking grape varieties many Lodi wineries are afraid of playing with!
- Karen's delicate touch always brings out the best in the fruit (she's won back-to-back Gold and Double Gold medals to prove it!) and really makes these grapes shine in the warm, sandy soils she calls home.

I don't usually go for merlot, but I liked the winewaker's petit syrah a lot so I decided to try this one. I enjoyed this wine. Smooth drinking, blackberry and plum with some vanilla and woody notes.

Aged beautifully. Bright red fruit. Firm tannins. Not your typical Merlot but very good.
No one liked it at all.

I prefer the Stephan Miller Angel Reserve Merlot which has more fruit and softer tanins
