Alex and Ryan Present: Rudy's Petite Sirah 2017
About the wine
This wine's big, rich, red, and best of all -- it's back!
This is a stick-to-your-ribs Petite Sirah from a winemaker with a pristine reputation for predicting the “next big thing…” like this cool-climate mega-red from Suisun and Mendocino.
His name is Rudy von Strasser – he’s the founder of Napa’s prestigious Diamond Mountain AVA. His historic Napa winery and tasting room just got bought out, so he needs to find a new way to show the world his wines...
Enter Alex & Ryan – two Naked HQ winemakers in charge of sniffing out unique wine opportunities. With your funding, they swooped up a new incredible wine! “We passed all those beautiful vineyards and thought, we gotta do this,” says Ryan. You’ve gotta taste it!
Best before
This is a big wine that will last. I'd say hold on to this wine for a bit as it will age and smooth out if you can wait.
Serving advice
You'll need to give this wine plenty of opportunity to open up and let it shine. Once opened, it would be ideal to decant, but if you can't, I'd open it an hour or two before you're ready to drink it. You'll really notice the wine open with time and age.
Food match
I'd do a lovely roast with this wine, have it for Sunday dinner with the family.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Alex Farber
- Alex's first job out of winemaking school was for a famous Napa Valley winery. She absorbed its classic traditions and techniques, but she knew her own dream – to make classic wines joyous and modern – would be years away.
- Most young winemakers have to work 10, 15, even 20 years to earn a Winemaker title. Alex's big dreams weren't going to wait, so she asked Angels for a jumpstart, and they launched her into the big leagues.
- It was a clever investment. Not only is Alex one of Naked's top winemakers, she's earned Best in Class, Double Gold and Gold medals for her independent wines produced with your support. And she's just getting started!
