Ana Diogo-Draper Paso Robles Tempranillo 2018
About the wine
Ana's Gold medal-winning, tempting Tempranillo returns!
- Intensely fruity and flush with plump berry flavors, like taking your pick of the juiciest fruit from bushels of blackberries, cherries and plums, all topped off with a delicate touch of mocha from a year of aging in fancy French Oak barrels.
- Ana’s first vintage of this Tempranillo from the sunny hills of Paso Robles, took home a shiny Gold medal from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Now it’s back and more refined than ever!
- Pair a full-bodied glass of this velvety smooth show-stealer with the charcuterie of your choice, or go big with a whole savory rack of ribs. In either case, you’ll definitely need more than just one bottle.
Best before
Due to the fact that this wine presents a great, natural acidity, combined with a beautiful tannin profile, it will age in your cellar over the next 3 - 5 years.
However, it was produced to be enjoyed right away. You will have a particularly unique experience, if youÂ’re patient enough, and decant it for 1 to 2 hours.
Serving advice
Please be sure to open it at least one hour before planning on drinking it, so all the flavors can fully emerge.
Food match
This is a medium body, elegant wine, which will pair great with a diverse number of dishes. My heart goes to an exquisite charcuterie plate or a roasted rosemary salt-rubbed leg of lamb. For a vegetarian choice, I'd go for a nice wild mushroom risotto or a bowl of velvety ginger-butternut squash soup. This is a light enough red that you can enjoy it in the summertime. Pour yourself a glass while you wait and see how the wine opens up, bringing forward its fruit and unique flavor.
