Jim Olsen and Tom Shula Red Blend Sierra Foothills 2016
About the wine
Silky, soft and smooth red from a region you'd never expect...
Tom and Jim uncovered 30 acres of pristine Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo in the Sierra Foothills, and it was decided in an instant - they were making a special red blend for Angels.
It's medium-bodied with a pleasant punch of velvety fruit. I'm not sure what made it so gosh darn silky - the Grenache? The Tempranillo? A view of the Sierras? Maybe a combination of all three...
- If you love a solid Rhone blend and love to support original exclusive wines, this Montserrat blend is your bingo. Grab this one-of-a-kind find while it lasts!
Best before
It's ready to enjoy now, but you might save a bottle or two to enjoy over the next 2-3 years
Serving advice
The wine is open and approachable now. As with any young wine, some aeration either in the glass or via decanting will help the aromatic components express themselves.
Food match
Braised meats like lamb shanks or Osso Buco, paired with grilled vegetables. It might be an interesting selection with Thanksgiving Dinner!
Contains sulphites
