Matt Michael Amador County Barbera 2021
About the wine
Gold Country take on Italy's 'wine of the people'
- Fruit forward with dark, juicy flavors like blackberry, black cherry and plum – this red is oh-so-smooth and soft.
- Angel funding gave Matt access to this Italian grape variety from high-elevation Amador County vineyards in California Gold Country, where the iron-rich soils and sunlight are ideal for growing deep, concentrated Barbera.
- “Barbera from Amador County is up and coming and this wine is an excellent example of how well the variety does in this area,” says Matt. He only made 124 cases of this, so get a few bottles and taste Matt’s stateside take on this popular Italian red.
Best before
It is ready to enjoy now but will age nicely for the next 5-10 years if properly stored in a cool, dark place.
Serving advice
Open and let it breathe for 15-20 minutes to allow it to open up and soften.
Food match
Barbera's dark fruit flavors, savoriness and softness pair well with grilled ribeyes, juicy burgers, barbecued chicken thighs and Osso Buco.
Contains sulphites
