About the wine
Award-winning, Portuguese-inspired red from California Gold Country
- This Tempranillo packs a powerful, complex punch of dark cherry, blackberry and plum, backed by a velvety texture from 16 months of aging in French oak barrels.
- By helping her access a tiny plot of rare Tempranillo growing in the Sierra foothills, you’re key to helping Ana prove how irresistible Portugal’s most famous wines can be when crafted on the West Coast.
- With layer after layer of complexity, this is one red you’ll want to let breathe for a few minutes after opening, ideally while whipping up a decked out cheese board, a hefty steak or hearty veggie paella.
Best before
This bold red has the structure to age in your cellar over a long period of time. I'd dare say 8 to 10 years! However, you can also enjoy it right away, just make sure you let it air out and breathe for at least 1 to 2 hours. Pour yourself a glass, while you wait, and taste how the wine opens up and shifts.
Serving advice
Please be sure to open it at least one hour before you plan on drinking it, so all the flavors can fully emerge.
Food match
This is a full-bodied wine, which will pair great with hefty dishes. This wine's earthiness will make it a great pairing for a mixed cheese board (think Manchego, Parmesan, Cheddar) or an exquisite charcuterie plate. Do not forget the crunchy baguette!
