The wine looks purple colored and the legs are medium. It smells like blackberry, fig, butter and black pepper. It tastes like black pepper, blackberry, strawberry jam and a rich cedar (so good), with a light butter after taste. The body is full and the wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity and medium/high tannin. We left the wine decant for an hour. This is a great wine with a lot of depth to it. It is a little sharp at first and the more it sits the smoother it gets. Can't wait to see what it is like after letting another bottle age for a year or so. This is a great wine and we really enjoyed it. One of the people tasting it with me really likes the JC van Petite Sirah, and compared this to be similar to that wine. He loves that wine and loves this wine, this is his new go to wine, to replace the Petite Sirah. If you really enjoy a high tannin Petite Sirah you will really enjoy this one. I don't love mouth puckering/high tannin wines but this one is not as mouth puckering and I really like it. This wine is such a joy to drink on it's own and enjoying all the great flavors it entertains your mouth with. Ordering more bottles this weekend to hold on to.
